At the White Hall of the Peterhof State Museum Reserve the projects were defended. Teams of young professionals from Germany, China, France, Belarus and Russia presented their projects to the Forum's international jury that featured President of the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO Andrey Sharonov, Head of the National Research University «Moscow Power Engineering Institute» Nikolai Rogalev, Chairman of the Board of the German Energy Agency, DENA, Andreas Kuhlmann, Director of Normandie Region, ENEDIS Marie-Line Bassette, Head of Russian Representative Office of the State Grid Corporation of China Ou Xiaoming, Director of the SKOLKOVO Energy Centre Tatiana Mitrova.
Teams competed in the nominations for "The Most Innovative Approach", "The Most Sustainable Project" and for the Forum Grand Prix.
All the projects generated live discussions among the jury members. The French team's project on introducing a "smart" energy consumption tracking system at the pilot site in Russia provoked the most animated conversation. It is noteworthy that this Forum is specifically defined by the presented projects presented, that are applied , highly prepared for introduction and designed to be implemented in Russia. For example, the German project of "Virtual Power Plant" was suggested for introduction in Altai Region.
The Chinese team was awarded by the jury for "The Most Sustainable Project" that provides the most efficient consumption of energy obtained from renewable sources both in terms of spatial and temporal differences.
The French team was awarded as "The Most Innovative Approach" for the project "Innovative electricity metering system".
The international jury unanimously decided to award the Forum Grand Prix to the Russian team's project "Substation load optimization in Urban Areas". This project provides using of high-temperature superconducting electric cables and electric power storages to balance the capacity of substations in urban areas.
All members of the Forum's winning teams were invited to participate in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students that will take place in October, 2017 in Sochi, Russia.
After wrap-ups and the award ceremony, participants and guests of the Forum enjoyed a bright and unforgettable performance — the solemn launch of the Grand Cascade and Samson Fountain.
The next day, the Forum participants visited the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum where they were attended to the discussion organized by global experts, titled "Energetic Trilemma — Providing Balance Through Integration" as part of a round table arranged by Rosseti PJSC.
The SPIEF 2017 events that were officially held in Saint Petersburg are a starting point for the presented projects to be further worked out, and next year we expect to see the actual results of their implementation.
